Birth Spaces at MIRE Hospital
The research, funded by Reggio Emilia Health Trust, aims to identify the optimal birth setting according to users’ needs, organisation and spatial design of MIRE Birth Centre, the new Maternity and Childhood Pavilion of ASMN Hospital. The research group (midwives, architects, physicians, psychologists) collaborate to develop three main research phases: i) Evaluation of the current project identifying critical aspects and make suggestions according to experience, literature review and visits done in the European Birth Centres; ii) Identifying the best spatial and environmental conditions through spatial layout analysis and users perception questionnaires and focus group; iii) Supporting a participatory process involving the population in co-designing the new birth room.
